I LOVED the dress Mia Wasikowska wore in the film, so I was ridiculously excited to see such a similar costume. It really looked like her dress.When I got it, I was so excited. It looked great online. However, when I tried it on it was, shall we say, not even close to what I thought it would look like. Sure, the design is the same, but it was so ridiculous looking! Very very cheap and you could even call it tacky. I was really surprised. It can't have cost them more than $10 to mass produce, and it really looks like it. The material is cheap, it was packaged poorly, and it just looked ridiculous. The petticoat they supply isn't a petticoat at all. It's actually just some fabric that reminded me of the cheap throwaway dressing gowns when I go to the OB/GYN. Made of practically the same stuff-easily ripable and NOT a petticoat. Sure enough, as soon as the costume arrived my daughter tried it on and the bodice tore in half up the middle. Here's why - the fabric has no give, and is of the lowest quality possible, and so it tore instantly at the center seam.
